Pokemon Go Eeveelution

One of the hardest choices in all of Pokemon gaming history, was choosing what Eevee would become. The hardest part, really, was choosing which stone to expose Eevee to. But from the information released so far, this Pokemon's evolution is completely random at the moment. Is there a secret to choosing which evolution your Pokemon will take?

Eevee's Evolution in The Past

In the traditional sense of evolution, the Pokemon known as Eevee evolves in the same way that any other creature does.

The original three evolutions were Vaporeon, Jolteon, and Flareon. Generation 2 introduced two more evolutions known as Espeon and Umbreon. The difference with these two being that Espeon is what the Pokemon evolved into during the day, and Umbreon is what the creature evolved to during the night.

Most Popular Eevee-lution

Out of the original three Evee-lutions, Jolteon appears the most popular among reddit users. Though each has their merit, it's possible that style alone is what gets Jolteon the vote for the most popular.

How to "Choose" Your Eevee-lution

The app has been out for less than two weeks, but there are a few users who've said they figured it out. If this "secret" is exactly what people think, there's a good chance Niantic built in an easter egg for fans of the original anime and manga.

Remember these three? Their names were Rainer, Sparky, and Pyro. The names are appropriate considering their choice of companion.

So, the secret to getting one of these three Evee-lutions? Users on Reddit suggest that simply naming your Eevee after one of the three guys above will guarantee the corresponding Eevee-lution associated with the Trainer.

Hidden Easter Egg or Convenient Quirk?

Fans of the original Pokemon will note that games have had odd quirks before. MissingNo was one such quirk. Some suggest that being able to choose what Eevee turns into might simply being a quirk of the programming, while other say it is Niantic's way of giving a nod to the original games and characters.

Closing Statement

This is something I cannot wait to try out. And I intend to catch three Evee to get all three Eevee-lutions, especially if the names are all it takes. What do you think of this method? Have you tried it and met with success? If you haven't tried it yet, will you? Let us know in the comments!
