Stardust is one of the most important aspects of Pokemon Go. Doing different things in the game will give you different amounts of it. The game doesn't really explain what it is, or where it came from. Could there be a connection from an older game? Is there any information that can shed light on the mystery?
Pokemon Go Stardust
In Pokemon Go, this item is gained whenever a Pokemon is caught out in the wild or hatched from an egg. For each creature that is caught in the wild, a players is given about 100 Stardust per catch. For eggs, I've received about 300 from eggs that were 2 to 5km. Whether or not a 10km egg gives more, I am not sure.
There isn't any information in-game as to where it's from. We just know that it helps us beef up our Pokemon and the few ways to get it.
First Introduction to Stardust Ever
Fans of the Pokemon series were first introduced to the Stardust item in Generation II games. It could be sold for 1000 and bought for 10000. The average person would say, with that kind of buy price, some shady stuff has to be going on.
In the original Red and Blue, the Pokedex entry for Staryu read as follows: "Its central core glows with the seven colors of the rainbow. Some people value the core as a gem."
Though we were only introduced to the substance known as Stardust in Generation II, a Pokedex entry from a Generation I game gives a clue to what it is. If there are people who value a Staryu core as a gem, then what might Stardust be?
I've got bad news for lovers of star-shaped creatures. Factoring in the black market price tag, and the creature that holds it, there is only one conclusion: Stardust HAS to be made from crushed Staryu core. That's a really morbid thought.
Generation II: A pretty, red sand. Sell high.
Generation III: A pretty, red sand with a loose silky feel. Can be sold at high prices.
Generation IV: Lovely, red-colored sand with a loose, silky feel. It can be sold at a high price to shops.
Generation V: Beautiful red sand. Can be sold at a high price.
It is extremely hard to ration Stardust in Pokemon Go. I know I've had trouble figuring which of my Pokemon I would save it for, since so many were said to accomplish anything.
How much of it have you been able to save? Do you wish there packs available in the store? And what do you think of it's implied history in Generations II thru V? Let us know in the comments!
