2016 has been a busy and wild ride for the PlayStation 4. With the PS4 chugging out a bucketload of games this year, it's kind of hard to keep track of which games you'd want to play, especially in the RPG genre.
But fear not! We present to you to you our list of the Top 5 PS4 RPG games that came out this 2016:
The Witcher III: Wild Hunt (+ Blood and Wine)
While The Witcher III: Wild Hunt technically came out in 2015, an expansion DLC, Blood and Wine, came out later this year and it is about as good as a sequel to the main story. The main game coupled with this DLC served as a sort of expansion to the main story and sought to give a closure to the main storyline- something that players and long-time fans of the Witcher series agree that it did a great job on.
This award-winning game, developed by CD Projekt RED, takes the player on a journey through Geralt of Rivia, a Witcher. Throughout his journey through the Northern Kingdoms in order to find his lover, the player has to complete main quests in order to advance in the storyline, as well as side quests. The manner of how you finish your quests and your actions in the game affect the outcome of the game, making the game extremely malleable.
The Witcher III: Wild Hunt came out for the PS4, XBox One, and the PC on May 19, 2015. The expansion DLC Blood and Wine came out on May 31, 2016.

Dark Souls III
Dark Souls III is the fourth installment to the Souls series and is Bandai Namco's fastest selling game so far. Its atmosphere and gameplay are very close to its predecessor, Dark Souls II, with some improvements and modifications. The storyline is as complex as ever. To simplify things, the player plays as The Ashen One and needs to defeat the Lords of Cinders and return them to their thrones. Once they have been defeated, The Ashen One needs to defeat the final boss, the Soul of Cinder, a sort of fusion of all the Lords in order to achieve the ending. Based on which actions that player chooses at the end, there are four possible endings.
Dark Souls III was released for the PS4. XBox One, and the PC worldwide on April 12, 2016.

Final Fantasy XV
Final Fantasy XV is the fifteenth installment to the Final Fantasy series developed by Square Enix.
Final Fantasy XV takes place in the world of Eos, which is split by two warring nations, Lucis and Nilfheim. After countless years of war over the world's last crystal, they decided to agree on a truce. A condition that was included in the peace treaty was for the crown prince of Lucis, Noctis Lucis Caelum, to marry Lunafreya Nox Fleuret, an oracle from Tenebrae. While on the way to wedding ceremony, Noctis and his companions found out that the truce between the two nations was just a plot by Nilfheim to seize Lucis' crystal for itself. With the capital city of Insomnia destroyed and the king, Noctis' father, reported to be dead, Noctis, along with his friends, go on a journey to get back his kingdom's crystal from the clutches of Nilfheim.
The player plays as Noctis as they traverse through the gorgeous open world environments, completing quests and defeating enemies in order to advance in the storyline. The game's battle system, the Active Cross Battle (AXB) system, is largely reminiscent of Final Fantasy Type-0's real-time combat system.
Final Fantasy XV is set for a worldwide release on November 29, 2016.

Persona 5 is the sixth installment to the Persona series developed by Atlus. New players of the Persona series should not be daunted by the fact that it is an installment because Persona 5 is newbie friendly and is a stand-alone game. Of course, previous fans and players of the Persona series are rewarded with cameos of past characters and easter eggs in the game's dialogues.
The game is set in modern day Tokyo and focuses on the life of a high school student. The game's time span is one year in-game wherein the player takes control of the silent protagonist and chooses which actions they should perform on a daily basis like going to school, doing part-time jobs, doing various hobbies, and more. The player can also choose to improve their relationships with other characters in the game through a system called Social Link system.
Persona 5 employs a turn-based combat through a series of dungeon crawler-like environments. Characters in the series are able to battle enemies with the use of their Personas which are more like manifestations of their psyches. Persona's battle system is truly unique and needs to be experienced first hand in order to truly get a gist of everything.
Persona 5 was released for the PS3 and PS4 on February 14, 2016.
